Bizelo IPS FAQ: Storage Locations
What is a Storage Location?
If you have inventory, it must be stored somewhere — in warehouse, on a shelf, or in a closet. Your inventory might actually be stored in multiple locations. You might have multiple warehouses, or perhaps you have a warehouse that holds bulk product while you have a smaller amount of inventory stored in local shelves or at a retail location. Each one of these storage locations represents a separate location in the Bizelo IPS system.
Why would you want or need to have multiple locations for your inventory? Because when it comes time to pick your products to send them to customers, Bizelo needs to know where that inventory is so it can decrease the quantity you have of that inventory on hand at that location. Bizelo keeps track of inventory across all your locations, but also tracks inventory on a per-location basis. This means that picking inventory from one location subtracts the quantity from that location only. If you want to pick inventory from multiple locations, you have to do that intentionally. Fortunately, Bizelo allows you to set up and pick orders from any number of locations you want.
How do I add a Storage Location?
You may want to add a storage location to keep track of your “On Hand Inventory” in multiple places. To add a location, go to the “Settings” tab and choose “Locations” from the menu on the right. If you have a Pro account, you will see a button labeled “Add a new location” near the top of the screen. If you have a Regular account, this option will be grayed out and you will need to upgrade your account in order to add a location.
Once you’ve clicked the “Add a new location” button, you will see a short form that asks for a “Location Name”. Simply enter the name of the new location and click “Save Changes”.
How do I remove a Storage Location?
In order to remove a storage location, you first need to make sure that you don’t have any items allocated to the storage location you’d like to remove. Bizelo IPS will prevent you from removing storage locations that have items allocated to them.
To do this, use any manual inventory adjustment method to remove any “On Hand Inventory” from that location. When you’ve finished reallocating your “On Hand Inventory”, click on the “Settings” tab and select “Locations” from the options on the right. Move your mouse over the location you would like to remove and a “Delete” option will appear to the right of the location name. Click this option and the location will be removed.
Does Bizeo IPS support multiple Storage Locations?
Absolutely. In fact, we built the whole system around the fact that you might have multiple storage locations, each holding a variable amount of inventory stock.
