E: Tell us about your online shop. What do you sell and what makes you unique?
G&B: Yummy Treasures is an online retailer of vintage and contemporary jewelry components. We specialize in Vintage components, focusing primarily on cabochons, pendants, and findings. Quite frankly, though, we are junkies for finding unique items. We are always on the hunt for great treasures!
E: What items are the most popular with your buyers?
G&B: Any item, whether it is cabochons, pendants, beads, or drops, in opaque colors are currently popular. Our customers just can’t seem to get enough! Also, brass findings and set stones have been very popular.
E: Which online ecommerce platforms are you currently on? Are you planning on selling in other places? If you do, Do you have any other online stores? How do they relate to your current shop?
G&B: Currently we are only on ETSY and Artfire. We are investigating setting up our own website as well as other channels like EBay. The most important component for us is that we are organized about growing to ensure our customer service and satisfaction does not suffer.
E: What would you like to improve about your ecommerce experience?
G&B: Reduce tasks that are redundant and unproductive. Automate as much as is possible. Thereby opening up more time for hunting down MORE Yummy Treasures and finding even better ways to keep our customers happy and coming back!
E: What do you spend the most time doing that you’d like to eliminate or reduce?
G&B: ETSY really has a lack of usable reporting and information that helps us track and grow our business. We currently have to export CSV files (if they run) into Excel to populate our own spreadsheets.
E: What other pieces of advice or feedback would you have for other online retailers currently on the Bizelo platform?
G&B: For folks who are just starting out with their own business: It’s hard, it takes perseverance, lots of learning, and knowing that profits may not come right away. And you have to put in 80 hr weeks. (Read: Outliers: The Story of Success by Malcolm Gladwell) If you are ok with that then you will do o.k. For folks that have been at this for a while…. You already know this!
