My Introduction to Bizelo: Work Simply and Simply Work
Hello Bizelo blog readers! I’m Evan, and I’m the community manager here at Bizelo in case we haven’t met. Throughout this past year, we’ve been incredibly busy and time has evaporated. This time last year, I was sitting in my office with about 75 ink and toner cartridges stacked to the ceiling throughout my office. Little did I know that I would be working to solve the very problem that frustrated me the most as a small business owner. Starting a new business from the ground floor is beyond challenging, but there is NOTHING I would rather be in doing in the entire world. Every day we continue to overcome challenging obstacles, but more importantly we continue to learn and grow in the process.
My entrepreneurial drive and knack for efficiency sparked my first invention while working with Dr. Miller at Orthodontic Associates. Today, hundreds of Orthodontists throughout the entire world are currently using the Jevan System to assist with the placement of lingual fixed retainers. Our website, www.dentaljevan.com was ironically created using Shopify. We didn’t want to fork out thousands of dollars for a custom website and also wanted to get up and running asap. Shopify was simple and easy as well as one of the only option to offer an ideal solution.
Today, there are many awesome website platforms and integrations to choose from including Shopify, 3dCart, Vendhq and Shipstation to name a few. They have all been growing like crazy over the past couple of years! Now, i’m fortunate to say that i’m working with Shopify as both a customer and partner! We’ve heard nothing but great things from all of our customers using Bizelo to help manage their Shopify inventory.
Starting a new business is one of the most challenging yet rewarding experiences I have ever been a part of in my entire life. Working as an entrepreneur is not just a routine chore, but a passion that brings out the best in me. I’m sure you will agree if you have ever started, worked for or have owned a small business!
My second entrepreneurial milestone came in 2010 after I graduated Muhlenberg. As an Account Manager for Global Messenger, I used my listening and problem solving skills to build and maintain relationships during customer service calls, while also fulfilling a variety of other tasks needed to help contribute to the success of the company. While working at Global Messenger, I was also given the opportunity to build a brand new Ink and toner division from the ground floor. Global Toner, Ink & Supplies provided business owners with a cost-effective and environmentally friendly alternative for their ink and toner cartridges.
While I had my share of struggles launching our new ink and toner division from the ground floor, it proved to be an invaluable learning experience that taught me many important lessons. We were a small company where everyone had to pitch in. Our company goal was to bring value added service to our customers which was difficult to explain to our customers at times. We would set up an online store where our customers could go and shop, and we would offer great service, great prices. Our focus was on developing good relationships with my customers and identify ways to improve products and services to give current customers more bang for their buck and attract new clients.
Unfortunately, we quickly ran into a couple major roadblocks that inhibited our growth. We couldn’t find one piece of simple and affordable software to help us manage our business needs. We were struggling to manage every aspect of our business on a daily basis. We were attempting to use Microsoft Excel to manage our entire business. We were overwhelmed with way too many spreadsheets. We had to manage ink and toner cartridges ordering from multiple vendors (9 to be exact), phone, fax, e-mail, and online orders, customer returns, manual accounting entries, and physical inventory. We were quoted well over $2,000 for software that was way too complicated. It felt like we were drowning further and further each and every day. We did not know where to turn for help!
Here at Bizelo, we’re we’re not only working to build simple and affordable software. We’re working to change the mindset of every small small business with this one powerful sentence that every business should incorporate into their culture!
